Mutations are the basis of evolution. Once a mutation arises that provides a survival advantage, it will manifest itself in all probability in the gene pool.
Whether that is also the case in this example, remains doubtful. In any case, it's pretty weird.
With such fingers, one could play a piano that's hanging from the ceiling. Or develop a completely new breast swimming technique or entirely new basketball and handball throwing techniques that confuse the enemy ... But I don't see any real survival benefit here.
